Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain empirical evidence about the effect of free cash flow, profitability, liquidity, leverage and the age of the company on dividend policy in the Basic and Chemical Industry Sector Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with explanatory types of research. The research data used is secondary data in the form of financial ratio data for the period 2015-2017, while data sources are obtained through the internet with the site http://www.idx.co.id. The population in this study were all Basic and Chemical Industry Sector companies listed on the IDX. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling method. The sample in this study was taken as many as 16 companies in the Basic and Chemical Industry Sector. The technique of collecting data through documentation, while the data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression models. Based on the results of the study showed that free cash flow has a positive and significant effect on dividend policy. Profitability has a negative but not significant effect on dividend policy. Liquidity has a negative but not significant effect on dividend policy. Debt policy has a negative and significant effect on dividend policy. Company age has a positive and significant effect on dividend policy. Simultaneously free cash flow, profitability, liquidity, debt policy and company age have a significant effect on dividend policy in basic industrial and chemical sector companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
