EVALUASI PENERAPAN PRINSIP KOPERASI BERDASARKAN UU NO. 25 TAHUN 1992 (STUDI KASUS PADA KOPERASI-KOPERASI WANITA DI KABUPATEN BANYUMAS)

Abstract

Despite the imperative role cooperatives should play in the Indonesian economy as stated by the Constitution, their contribution compared to state-owned as well as private enterprises, was minimum. To make it worse, it is believed that some proportion of the existing cooperatives do not implement the cooperative principles, which further hinders their development as economic and social organizations. The principles were agreed internationally in order that the cooperative movement keep in pace with global changes while at the same time maintain cooperative uniqueness as an economic system. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of cooperative principles at eight women cooperatives in Banyumas Regency. Sixty-six members of the cooperatives were selected as respondents. Data were collected by direct interviews using open ended questionnaire and were analyzed qualitatively. Out of the seven principles, some have been fully implemented, some have been partially implemented, and some others were not implemented. The level of implementation of the cooperative principles among cooperatives was varied. Based on the findings, recommendations were discussed.
